The Ministry of Social Affairs ultimately decided to shut down Phum Prey Speu. The remaining residents were to be relocated to their home provinces or more appropriate facilities. Some, struggling with addiction, were sent to rehabilitation centers. Others, facing homelessness, were promised housing and identification. The closure of Phum Prey Speu marked a turning point.
