The pagoda’s origins date back to 1968. It was founded by the Most Venerable Phap Su Giac Nhien, the first Truong Giao Doan IV of the Khac Si sect. Initially, the structure was humble, consisting of a small main hall and bamboo huts. However, through dedication and hard work, the pagoda has transformed into the magnificent structure we see today. A major renovation in 2009 further enhanced its grandeur, leaving it with a footprint of 37,490 square meters. Phap Vien Minh Dang Quang Pagoda is a place where four Vietnamese records have been set. It houses the largest four stupas, the largest indoor Buddha statue made of composite, and the largest 60th anniversary of the Most Venerable Minh Dang Quang. It also hosted the largest Buddhist initiation ceremony. The pagoda is home to a remarkable Bodhi tree, a gift from the Most Venerable Pho Tong Thong to the Vietnamese Buddhist community. Planted in 2014, this tree is a cutting from a 2000-year-old Bodhi tree in Sri Lanka, adding a layer of historical significance to the pagoda’s serene grounds. The pagoda is open from 7 am to 8 pm on Tuesdays and 7 am to 9 pm from Wednesday to Sunday, offering ample time to explore. Admission is free, making it accessible to all.
