The name Pezzolo itself, meaning “piece of land”, hints at this early connection. Imagine this area in the 13th century, a feudal landscape dominated by the noble Riccardi family. A document from 1340 mentions a castle in Pezzolo, already in ruins by then. It must have been a sight, perched on these rolling hills. The document also speaks of a “ricetto”, a fortified structure that served as both a storehouse and a refuge for locals during times of trouble.
