Here we are at the Petronas tower viewpoint #5. The views from here will take your breath away. We are at the top of the Petronas Towers.
The Petronas Towers were once the tallest buildings in the world. They stand at 452 meters. It’s hard to tell but each tower is based on Islamic geometric forms. This creates an eight-pointed star.
Seeing the Petronas Towers first-hand is an incredible experience. They are so tall. They almost touch the heavens. You might remember seeing the Petronas Towers in the movie Entrapment. Sean Connery and Catherine Zeta-Jones starred in it.
The architecture is very cool. It makes you want to visit. You might imagine playing a part in your own action movie. Maybe running across the Skybridge. Experiencing these buildings first-hand is worth it.
Tickets sell out quickly on the Petronas Towers website. You can buy them at the ticket office when you arrive. But you will probably stand in a long line. You need to arrive early to buy your tickets. If you don’t arrive early enough, they will sell out of tickets for that day.
Buying tickets online is a great option. It saves you from spending up to an hour in line. Buying tickets online also lets you pick the best time. The best time is to enjoy the spectacular views. Sunrise or sunset is a good choice.
One of the good things about this tour is that they keep the group sizes small. This lets visitors have a more enjoyable experience. No one wants to be stuck in a crowd. It is better to get a spot by the window to get a view.
Upon arriving for the Petronas Tower tour you will be asked to check in large bags. You will also have to send your small items through an x-ray machine. You’ll also walk through a metal detector. It is best to keep all your sharp objects at home. Try not to bring a lot of stuff.
Each person in the group gets a color-coded lanyard. This helps you know which group you are part of. It also helps the tower to keep the group sizes small.
The Skybridge is our first stop. It is 170 meters high and 58.4 meters long. It connects both of the towers. An interesting fact is that the bridge is not connected to the towers. There is about an 8-inch gap between the Skybridge and each tower. The gap is not there to freak out the visitors. There is actually a functional purpose. The sheer size of the Petronas Towers exposes them to high winds. The towers need to be able to rock back and forth so that they don’t break. They need to bend but not break. Because the towers rock back and forth the bridge can’t be connected to the towers or the bridge would break. So mind the gap when accessing the Petronas Tower Bridge.
After spending around 15 minutes on the Skybridge we head back to the elevator. We are on our journey to the top. The views from the top of the Petronas Towers will take your breath away. You’ll have the best views of Kuala Lumpur from here. You can see the Menara KL Tower. It puts on a light show at night.
