“What a blessing”, someone might say, stumbling upon Peck Park unexpectedly. Peck Park is a surprisingly pleasing green space in Detroit. It serves as a cool outdoor classroom. The Detroit Science Center sometimes uses it. Peck Park’s construction finished in 2004. The University Cultural Center Association maintains it.
Now, look around. This park may be small. But it is a nice place to relax or have fun. If you are visiting the Detroit Institute of Arts, Michigan Science Center, and Wright Museum, Peck Park is a perfect place to unwind.
See that unique bridge? It is the Connections Bridge. It is a Detroit 300 sculpture. High school students from Windsor and Detroit collaborated on it. The sculpture celebrates the shared history. It marks three centuries between the two cities across the border.
Notice the paved circular plaza? It is ringed with planters. The plaza offers a picturesque location. Many people celebrate a magical wedding ceremony here.
Imagine making a grand entrance. Use one of the paved walkways. They radiate from the plaza. The park also has a water garden. And do not miss the bridge sculpture. They make magnificent backdrops. They are perfect for formal portraits.
The mountain playscape is a big hit with children. There are plenty of trees for shade. You can sit at metal picnic tables. Peck Park’s tranquil environment makes it a great place. It is a great place to start your wonderful life together.
A design team was selected to revamp Midtown’s Cultural Center. The concept art is exciting. The plan is to connect the museums and cultural landmarks. They are all right next to each other. The design will enhance the area with outdoor art. An amphitheater will be added too.
Peck Park has a performance stage. There are picnic tables and benches. It is a great place to take a detour. It is a cool green space. A place to remember.
