Pecan Grove Baptist Church

Founded in 1981 Pecan Grove Baptist Church began as a mission. It was a mission of First Baptist Church Richmond Texas. A dedicated group answered God’s call. They planted a new church in the burgeoning Pecan Grove community. For eighteen months services were held in a member’s home. This humble start laid the foundation for what was to come. In spring 1983 a new building was completed. The congregation was officially chartered September 18 1983. They affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention. A significant milestone was reached in 1984. Pecan Grove Baptist School opened. It served the community’s need for Christian education. It also operated as an outreach ministry. The church’s growth was most significant during the mid to late 1990s. A new Christian Family Life building was constructed. Its completion in December 2001 was another pivotal moment. This expansion allowed for larger services. It enabled the expansion of Pecan Grove Baptist School. It also facilitated community events. Pecan Grove Baptist Church has a long history of mission work. Members have participated in numerous mission trips. These have taken them to New Orleans Mexico and Nicaragua. They played a key role in establishing Hebron Baptist Church in Jinotega Nicaragua. The church also supports Emmanuel Ministries Inc in southern India. This ministry runs an orphanage and a Christian school. Today Pecan Grove Baptist Church continues its mission. It strives to know Christ and make Him known. It is a testament to faith perseverance and the power of community. It is a place where people gather to worship learn and grow together. The church remains a vital part of the Pecan Grove community.
