Five-year-old Chuck stood on a chair. He proclaimed God is good. This wasn’t just any five-year-old. This was the future Pastor of Peaceful Rest Baptist Church. He would later preach many more sermons. This early proclamation however showed a clear calling.
Peaceful Rest Baptist Church in Aurora Colorado has deep roots. It’s more than just a building. It’s a spiritual home for many. It’s a place where faith is celebrated. It’s where lives are transformed.
Pastor Charles Edward Survine’s story is inextricably linked to the church. He grew up in Denver. His father was Pastor of Mt Carmel Baptist Church. Chuck’s early life was steeped in faith. He attended Denver Public Schools. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School. He later earned degrees from several institutions. He eventually obtained a Doctor of Biblical Studies.
His journey wasn’t always straightforward. Like many ministers he initially resisted his calling. He ran from it. However his running ended on March 28 1993. That night he answered his calling. He was licensed to preach the Gospel. He was later ordained at the Peaceful Rest Baptist Church. The ordination ceremony was held at the Watch Night Service in 1993. The late Dr D M Survine Jr and the late Dr P H Gholston officiated.
Pastor Survine’s dedication is evident. He strives to edify the church. He glorifies God. He builds His kingdom. He considers himself a tender shepherd. He takes his calling seriously. His hobbies are fixing things and reading. He’s married to Melissa W Green. They have a daughter Alyssa.
Peaceful Rest Baptist Church offers more than just Sunday services. There’s Sunday School. There’s a New Members Class. There are also Bible studies. There’s a Seniors on the Move program.
