A shimmering oasis of retail therapy. That’s Pavilion Bukit Jalil. It stands as a testament to Malaysia’s modern consumer culture. Pavilion Bukit Jalil opened its doors on December 3, 2021. It quickly became a landmark in Kuala Lumpur.

Pavilion Bukit Jalil isn’t just a mall. It’s an experience. It’s the second mall under the “Pavilion” brand, following in the footsteps of its sister mall, Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, in Bukit Bintang. The mall is part of the larger Bukit Jalil City integrated development. This project, started in 2015 by Malton Berhad, spans a massive 50 acres. It encompasses not only the mall, but also apartments, residential areas, and commercial shops. This creates a vibrant, bustling community around Pavilion Bukit Jalil.

Did you know that Qatar Investment Authority owns a significant stake in Pavilion Bukit Jalil? In 2019, Malton sold 49% of the then still-under-construction mall to them for a whopping RM 1.3 billion. This was a strategic move to secure funding for the project’s completion. Later, in November 2022, Pavilion REIT acquired the mall from Regal Path Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Malton, for RM 2.2 billion.

Pavilion Bukit Jalil boasts a massive 1,800,000 square feet of retail floor area. It houses a wide range of stores, including two anchor tenants. It’s a shopper’s paradise, offering everything from high-end fashion to everyday essentials. The mall also houses several event spaces, including the Centre Court, PIAZZA, and the Pavilion Bukit Jalil Exhibition Centre. These spaces host a variety of events, from product launches to cultural performances, adding to the mall’s dynamic atmosphere.

Pavilion Bukit Jalil is also home to several unique attractions. It houses the first Tsutaya Books in Southeast Asia, a Japanese bookstore chain that opened in July 2022. This bookstore occupies a sprawling 31,000 square feet on Level 2. The mall also boasts Malaysia’s first international premium supermarket branch, The Food Merchant.

Pavilion Bukit Jalil is more than just a shopping mall. It’s a vibrant hub of activity, a place where people come to shop, dine, and be entertained. As you stand before its gleaming facade, remember the story of its development. It’s a story of ambition, investment, and the creation of a new landmark in Kuala Lumpur.
