PAU’s main campus sits on the serene Koiari Park. This is about 14 miles outside Port Moresby. The capital of Papua New Guinea is a short distance away. The campus spans 48 hectares. Established in 1984, PAU has grown significantly. It started as a college with only 20 students. Now, the university hosts over 1000 students. These students come from across the Pacific.

Notably, the Koiari Park Campus is a bird sanctuary. It hosts a unique species of bird. The late Mike Tarburton, known as the “bird man,” monitored the birdlife here. Now his students continue his work. Bird watchers from around the globe visit the campus.

In 2009, PAU launched an electronic journal called Davaria. The university also set up a community radio station named Radio 2G. It broadcasts on 97.9 FM.
