“Welcome. Get to know us more”. This warm invitation greets visitors of Parroquia Santa Teresa del Niño Jesús. This church stands as a beacon of faith and community in the Campo de Tiro neighborhood.
Parroquia Santa Teresa del Niño Jesús was established in May 2000. The pastoral mission was entrusted to the Assumptionist Fathers in September 2003. Father Julián Lucas has served as the pastor since its beginning. His leadership has guided the parish through its formative years.
The church building is a prefabricated structure. It is a beautiful and dignified space for worship. The parish also has two additional rooms. These are used for Catechesis and Cáritas. There is also a parish office. The community eagerly anticipates the construction of a permanent temple. In the meantime, two additional rooms are used for Catechesis.
Located in the Campo de Tiro neighborhood on Violeta Parra Street, the parish serves approximately 10000 residents. In its first year, the San Nicasio community graciously provided a temple and premises. This act of generosity allowed the parish to establish itself. Thanks to the pastoral work and an active group of lay people, the parishioners are increasing. The current buildings are becoming insufficient to accommodate the growing community.
Parroquia Santa Teresa del Niño Jesús offers daily evening Mass. On Sundays and holidays, there are two morning Eucharists. The 12 pm Mass is dedicated to children and young people. The parish also hosts various social activities. These include cultural events and guitar lessons.
The parish is self-financed, though the Bishopric provides some assistance. Any financial contributions or volunteer work are greatly appreciated. This spirit of self-reliance demonstrates the community’s commitment to its church.
The parish is a normal setting where most believers live and nurture their faith. It is a privileged place for initiation, education and celebration of faith. It must be in constant evangelizing attitude. The Church in this evangelizing task, begins by evangelizing itself. It is a community of believers, a community of hope lived and communicated and a community of brotherly love. It needs to listen without ceasing to what it must believe, the reasons for hoping and the new commandment of love. The Church always needs to be evangelized, if it wants to preserve its freshness, its impulse and its strength to announce the Gospel.
The spirit of Santa Teresa del Niño Jesús lives on. It inspires the community to serve others. The parish remains open to growth. It is effectively interpreting the signs of the times. Parroquia Santa Teresa del Niño Jesús is not just a building. It is a living testament to faith. It is a community and service to others. Remember the dedication of its members as you continue your tour of Madrid. Their commitment embodies the true spirit of this vibrant city.
