Parroquia Santa Maria del Valle’s story began on June 18 1976. It was created by Episcopal Decree 588. The parish was formed from a segment of the Sagrada Familia parish. Originally it included the neighborhoods of Calima Floralia Guaduales and Paso del Comercio. Over time new parishes were established to meet the growing pastoral needs of the communities. These included Maria Misionera San Felipe Apostol and Santo Domingo Savio. Now the Parroquia Santa Maria del Valle encompasses only Barrio Calima and la Flora Industrial. Its boundaries stretch from Calle 52 to Calle 70. It extends between Carrera Primera and the Cali River.
Since its creation several dedicated priests have served the Parroquia Santa Maria del Valle. They include Padre José Oyon Padre Hugo Rojas and Padre Hector Salazar. Also Padre Luis Enrique Muñoz Padre Herminsul de Jesus Moncada and Joaquin Alonso Otalvaro Palacio who has served since August 13 2003.
