On February 6 1968 a new chapter began. The Parroquia Nuestra Señora de Aluche opened its doors. It stood proudly at Calle Camarena 149. Archbishop Casimiro Morcillo officially established the parish.

The Parroquia Nuestra Señora de Aluche wasn’t just a church. It was the heart of a new neighborhood. Aluche itself barely existed when the church was built. The parish became a focal point. People built their lives around it.

The Scolopian Fathers played a key role. They oversaw the parish. They were instrumental in the area’s development. They provided more than spiritual guidance. They fostered a sense of community. They helped shape the identity of Aluche.

The church complex was impressive. It included a beautiful temple. There were classrooms too. These housed the Hogar 2 a childcare center and preschool. The parish also offered adult education and various community programs. A cinema-theater and even a bar were part of the building.

The construction was ambitious. It cost over fifteen million pesetas. The Scolopians funded the project. The parish acquired the furniture. The diocese didn’t start contributing financially until 1975. The facilities were blessed in September 1973.

The Scolopians didn’t just run the parish. They also operated a nearby school. They even taught classes there. The school and the parish worked together. They formed a significant part of the local community.

Father Antonio Gómez served as the parish priest since 1968. Many other Scolopian Fathers helped with pastoral duties. The Parroquia Nuestra Señora de Aluche celebrated its golden anniversary in 2018. A special mass marked the occasion. The event highlighted the enduring impact of the parish on the lives of the people of Aluche. It continues to be a center of faith and community. The Parroquia Nuestra Señora de Aluche’s story is one of growth perseverance and dedication. It’s a testament to the power of community and faith. The church remains a cornerstone of Aluche. Its impact is felt even today.
