Welcome to the Parroquia Maria Auxiliadora a place steeped in history and faith. This isn’t just any church. It’s a testament to the enduring spirit of a community. Its construction a journey spanning decades.

The original church was founded much earlier in 1930. Father Miguel Muler a pivotal figure laid its cornerstone. He envisioned a sanctuary of peace and hope. Decades later it needed revitalization. Construction on the new building began in 1943. Bishop Julio Caicedo of Cali presided over the groundbreaking ceremony. It was a momentous occasion filled with prayer and anticipation.

A Spanish Salesian architect Constantino de Castro designed the stunning Romanesque structure. He skillfully incorporated elements reflecting the rich heritage of the region. The building’s completion in 1950 marked a significant milestone. Monsignor Crisanto Luque officially inaugurated the Parroquia Maria Auxiliadora in 1951. It stands tall as a symbol of faith and architectural beauty. The three naves stretch 50 meters long 20 meters wide. Its central section rises sixteen meters high while the side sections reach eight meters. The impressive towers soar to thirty-six meters.

The Parroquia Maria Auxiliadora boasts unique features. There’s a remarkable six-sided clock crafted in the Salesian workshops of Colegio Leon XIII in Bogota. An antique Hammond organ fills the sanctuary with its mellow tones. A set of bronze bells cast in Bassano del Grappa Italy rings out their harmonious melody.

The church’s warm terracotta and orange hues aren’t just aesthetically pleasing. They symbolize renewal optimism and community spirit. They evoke a sense of warmth and joy. These colors are more than just paint. They reflect the soul of this parish.

The Parroquia Maria Auxiliadora is more than bricks and mortar. It’s a living testament to faith perseverance and the enduring power of community. It’s a place where history echoes and hope flourishes. As we stand before its majestic facade take a moment to reflect. Feel the weight of its history the warmth of its spirit.
