This beautiful church, with its modern infrastructure, became the 33rd parish in the Archdiocese of Kigali. It was built from the ground up, a beacon of hope amidst the bustling city. Paroisse Marie Auxiliatrice, also known as Mary Help of Christians Parish, was a dream brought to life through the generosity of Rector Major Fr Ángel Fernández Artime and many benefactors. Fr Danko Litrič diligently oversaw the project, ensuring its successful completion. The inauguration of Paroisse Marie Auxiliatrice was a momentous occasion. Cardinal Kambanda, a staunch supporter of the Salesians’ work, installed Fr Augustin-César Habanabakize as the first parish priest. The Salesians, already renowned for their educational contributions with a kindergarten, primary, and secondary school, expanded their reach into parish ministry. Paroisse Marie Auxiliatrice quickly became a hub for the community. Weddings, funerals, and daily masses filled its halls with life. The church’s stunning architecture and serene ambiance earned it recognition as one of the most beautiful churches in Rwanda. Paroisse Marie Auxiliatrice symbolizes the Salesians’ enduring commitment to serving the people of Kigali. It stands as a testament to the power of faith to unite a community and inspire hope for the future.
