The Paroisse Internationale FJKM Andohalo whispers tales of resilience. It stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of faith in Antananarivo. The Paroisse Internationale FJKM Andohalo’s history is intertwined with that of another Protestant temple, the Temple Protestant d’Avaratr’Andohalo. The latter wouldn’t exist if the Paroisse Internationale FJKM Andohalo hadn’t been requisitioned by Gallieni. During its initial construction, an ancient royal decree prohibited building permanent structures for the living within the city walls. This is why the Paroisse Internationale FJKM Andohalo is located just outside the old city fortifications. It’s one of the first temples in Antananarivo. The first building dates back to 1864 and was the work of pastors Rainitrimo and Ranaka. The brick tower was inaugurated in 1892. Under colonial rule, Gallieni requisitioned the building five years later, turning it into a post office. When it was returned to religious use in 1903, it became what it is today: the Paroisse Internationale FJKM Andohalo, a beacon of faith in the heart of Madagascar.
