Fearing his sons might not respect local taboos he relocated them. This gave rise to the name “vohitry ny zanaka” meaning the village of the children which later became Ambohijanaka.

Ambohijanaka can be accessed via National Road 7 and National Road 2 from Antananarivo. The Nanganoana Lake and Varahana River also grace this municipality.
