It began as a humble gathering in 1906 at College Hall in Anderson University’s “Old Main.” The congregation’s journey led them to construct a brick church over a cabbage patch in 1917. Then a mid-century vision brought them to this very spot, 5th and College Drive, in 1960. Park Place Assembly of God has always been at the heart of the Church of God movement. This movement, rooted in the “Radical Reformation,” emphasizes the Spirit’s guidance in shaping and governing the church. Park Place Assembly of God also embraces the Wesleyan Holiness Movement. This means they focus on holy living and working together to fulfill God’s mission in the world. Their future vision centers on transformed lives, communities, and a world united by faith. The founders were part of the early days of the Church of God movement. They believed in resisting control by officials or private agendas, instead letting the Spirit lead the church.
