“What if every child in Milan had a park designed just for them?” That thought sparked the creation of Parco del Fanciullo. This park is in the Quarto Cagnino neighborhood. It provides a green escape on the city’s western edge.
Originally named Parco di Via Fratelli Zoia the park was inaugurated in 1978. The Milan Municipality Technical Office designed it. Parco del Fanciullo covers about 36200 square meters. It sits next to the former Luciano Manara primary school.
The park is always open. You can enter from Via Privata Luigi Zoja or Via Fratelli Zoia. A main circular path defines the park’s structure. Inside this path there is a fenced area. This area includes a football field. There is also a skating rink and a children’s play area.
Outside this central ring you will find more to explore. Secondary paths lead to various rest areas. These areas include dog parks, a basketball court and another children’s play area.
As you stroll through Parco del Fanciullo notice the diverse tree species. You will see fir trees, Norway maples and silver maples. American maples and hackberries are present. Also look for common ash trees. You may spot a common medlar or manna ash. Red oaks and lime trees also grow here.
Keep an eye out for the ancient mulberry tree. It is a survivor from when silkworms were cultivated here. The park’s paths are paved with asphalt. Volunteer Ecological Guards regularly monitor the park.
Parco del Fanciullo offers many activities. Children can enjoy the two play areas. Visitors can relax and unwind. You can run along the avenues. The park includes a football field and a basketball court. There is also an ice rink. Two dog areas provide space for pets to play.
