Across the sprawling expanse of green, Parc Gagné unfolds. It’s more than just a park. It’s a testament to change, a space reborn. Once known as Parc des Prairies, this 30-hectare haven in Laval-des-Rapides was renamed Parc Bernard-Landry in May 2019. Parc Gagné invites you to explore its nearly 5 kilometers of trails, perfect for strolling, biking, or simply enjoying the fresh air. The hard-packed gravel and asphalt paths are ideal for strollers and wagons, making it a perfect family destination. Located at Avenue du Crochet and Boul des Prairies, Parc Gagné offers two playgrounds. One is nestled near the chalet, offering traditional play structures and a welcoming greenspace for picnics. The other playground is more of an adventure course. It boasts ropes, monkey bars, and balancing pods for kids and adults alike. As you wander the paths of Parc Gagné, you’ll stumble upon a tranquil pond with ducks and a gentle waterfall. It’s a perfect spot to pause and enjoy a snack. Throughout the park, you’ll find older fitness stations and newer TrekFit stations, encouraging visitors to stay active. Parc Gagné truly caters to everyone. During the summer months, the chalet is a hub of activity. You can borrow frisbees, balls, and other equipment. You’ll also find restrooms, a vending machine, a drinking fountain, a first aid kit, and even children’s books and toys. In winter, Parc Gagné transforms into a wonderland of snow-filled fun. The park offers sledding, outdoor skating, and 4.2 kilometers of trails for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Visitors can even borrow snowshoes, skates, hockey sticks, and magic carpets from the chalet, free of charge. Parc Gagné is more than just recreation. It’s a space for community events, hosting cultural and sporting activities, movies, and concerts throughout the year.
