But the park’s small size makes it vulnerable. Human activity puts a strain on its delicate ecosystem. Nearby CÉGEP Ahuntsic and the Claude-Robillard Sports Complex bring many visitors. Their presence is a double-edged sword. It’s wonderful to see people enjoying the park. However this constant traffic can be damaging. Invasive species also threaten the native plants. The park’s ecosystem is under constant pressure.
Fortunately the Comité Écologique du Grand Montréal. They took action to protect this precious green space. They created an action plan. The aim is to preserve the park’s ecological integrity. Through diligent work and community involvement they’ve accomplished much. They removed invasive plants. They planted thousands of trees and shrubs. They created habitats to protect birds and butterflies. They even involved local schoolchildren and corporations in the planting efforts.
