Clutching a worn baseball glove, a young boy races into Parc Cousineau. He bursts through the gates, eager to conquer the refurbished baseball field. Parc Cousineau isn’t just a green space. It’s a vibrant hub of activity, recently revitalized in 2018. The boy heads towards the familiar, large play structure near Rue Deguire. He remembers the old cable climber, now replaced with a gleaming Netplex climber. He scales the slanted climbing wall, a proud grin spreading across his face. Later, he ventures past the tennis courts and baseball field, discovering another playground. He tries the metal climber and the stand-up spinner. The spinner whirls him around, leaving him dizzy and slightly nauseous. A concerned voice calls out, “Are you sure you want to spin that long?” He replies, undeterred, “I’m fine!” Parc Cousineau caters to everyone. There are picnic areas, some even covered, for families to enjoy. There are basketball and tennis courts. Pickleball enthusiasts can also find their place here. During winter, the park transforms into a winter wonderland. An ice rink skating oval invites skaters to glide across the ice. A dog park welcomes furry friends to socialize and play. Although the chalet was closed during the boy’s visit, it promises restrooms and other amenities. Parc Cousineau is more than just a park. It is a community gathering spot. It is a place where memories are made, one swing, one climb, one spin at a time.
