The new company was called Famous Players–Lasky Corporation. It continued to use the name “Paramount”. It became the largest film company at the time. Its value was US$12.5 million.

Paramount’s successful run of pictures extended into the 1980s and 1990s. It generated hits like “Airplane!” and “American Gigolo”. Other hits include “Ordinary People” and “An Officer and a Gentleman”. “Flashdance”, “Terms of Endearment”, “Footloose”, and “Pretty in Pink” were also successes. “Top Gun”, “Crocodile Dundee”, and “Fatal Attraction” were very popular. “Ghost” and the “Friday the 13th” slasher series were big draws. Paramount joined forces with Lucasfilm and Steven Spielberg. Together, they created the “Indiana Jones” franchise.
