Deep in the heart of Ozzero, a subtle rise gives way to Palazzo Centurione. This palace stands as an intriguing example of a noble residence from the 16th century. Its very structure echoes a time of fortified dwellings with its compact, square layout.

Palazzo Centurione is located at Via XXV Aprile 8. It is a remarkable example of a noble residence dating back to the 16th century. The Palazzo Centurione embodies the architectural style of fortified residences of its time with its compact, square design.

Imagine this building in its prime. Surrounded by verdant grounds it commands a view from its slightly elevated position. Although the green area surrounding it is currently uncultivated, one can still imagine how it looked in the 16th century. The architecture reflects a blend of residential and defensive styles.

Let’s talk about its history. The Centurione family had profitable financial relations with Spain and the Duchy of Milan. Originally built for Giorgio Centurione’s family, the palace underwent several renovations during the 18th century by the Pallavicini family.

Centurione Palace is an example of 16th-century architecture. However, renovations in 1718-1724 brought significant changes. The atrium and monumental staircase were renovated. The facades facing the Filippini Fathers’ complex and Via Lomellini were decorated with pilasters and tympanums. Stucco floral motifs added another layer of beauty.

The interiors of Palazzo Centurione were also redesigned. The representative flat on the second piano nobile features frescoes by Domenico Parodi. Stuccoes by Mutoni and Giacomo Antonio Boni enhance the artistic ambiance.

A small gallery was added. It was frescoed by Parodi. Mirrors and consoles unified the rooms. These updates aligned the palace with contemporary tastes.

Later, from 1756 to 1763, the building was expanded. A small hanging garden was added on the first floor just above the stables.

Today, Palazzo Centurione remains a privately-owned property. It houses private flats and offices. The palace stands as a testament to the architectural styles and the families that shaped it. The building is a cultural landmark. It connects us to the history of Ozzero and the broader region of Lombardy.

Consider the layers of history within these walls. From its 16th-century origins to its 18th-century renovations, Palazzo Centurione encapsulates Ozzero’s heritage. It is a remarkable example of architecture for residence and services. It is a beautiful building to remind us of past times.
