Designed by Ernst Ludwig Reinhold Persius, the son of a famous architect, Palais am Stadthaus started its life in 1874 as a private villa for a man named Jenns Bier. In the 20th century, the Palais took on a more official role, serving as a registry office and later housing the city’s fleet of vehicles. After a meticulous restoration in 1998, the Palais am Stadthaus was returned to its former glory.
