The Pagode Bao Quang was founded in 1984 by the nun Thich Nu Dieu Tam. It has been at its current location on the Bille River since 2008. Today it stands as one of Germany’s largest Buddhist nunneries.
Currently, the Venerable Nun Tue Dam Nghiem leads the Pagode Bao Quang. The Pagode belongs to the Vietnamese Lam Te school. This school descends from Chinese Linji Buddhism. The practices here blend recitation, meditation, and Pure Land practice.

He met with about 800 laypeople and 140 ordained members in Neuss for a retreat. Afterward, he visited the Pagode Bao Quang with a delegation of 20 people for an exchange.
