In 2011, the Oxford United Ox statue suffered an unusual fate. It was vandalized, not with graffiti or damage, but with a vibrant coat of pink paint. This act of vandalism, while disruptive, unexpectedly created a fundraising opportunity for the local charity “Against Breast Cancer”. The Oxford United Ox, a prominent symbol of the local football club, stood outside the Kassam Stadium transformed. The task of restoring Olly the Ox, as the statue is affectionately known, fell to Bradford Decorating and Construction of Oxford. They used a special paint remover called Safer* Paint & Varnish Remover to gently lift the pink paint and return Olly to his original bronze glory. The incident highlighted the community spirit surrounding the Oxford United Ox, turning an act of vandalism into a positive outcome. The restored statue stands as a testament to the resilience and resourcefulness of the Oxford community.
