How did a small family business become a European giant? Right here before you stands OVHcloud Roubaix a testament to that story. This unassuming building houses the headquarters of a company that started in 1999. Octave Klaba and three family members founded OVH. They began by offering web hosting services. The name OVH is said to come from Klaba’s student nickname Oles Van Herman.

Initially OVH operated from Parisian premises provided by Xavier Niel. Space became an issue. The company moved to a former Free data center. They quickly outgrew that too. OVH’s growth was phenomenal. They expanded to a 3000 square meter building.

The expansion wasn’t confined to Paris. Roubaix became strategically important. OVHcloud constructed its first data center here RBX-1. RBX-2 and RBX-3 followed. They even built a cutting edge climate controlled RBX-4. This facility required no air conditioning. This innovative approach is a significant part of the OVHcloud story. It demonstrates the company’s commitment to efficiency.

OVHcloud’s story is one of ambitious expansion. The company’s growth is remarkable. It built data centers across the globe. In 2016 OVH owned the world’s largest data center by surface area. It became Europe’s largest hosting provider by 2019. Its global reach continues to expand.

OVHcloud’s journey wasn’t without challenges. The devastating 2021 Strasbourg fire demonstrated the fragility of even the largest infrastructure. Despite setbacks OVHcloud persevered. It continues its mission to provide reliable cloud services worldwide. The company’s story is a reminder of the drive and innovation needed in today’s tech landscape. OVHcloud Roubaix stands as a symbol of that ongoing journey.
