It’s a place where legends are born. It’s a private co-educational junior and senior high school. Osaka Sangyo University founded it in 1983. The school started with 150 students. They were divided into two groups. One was a regular course. The other was a physical education course.

Osaka Toin High School quickly gained recognition. It became independent in 1988. A junior high school was added in 1995. The school’s success is truly impressive. It offers different academic streams. Stream I is for students aiming for top universities like Tokyo University or Kyoto University. Stream II is also for high-level universities. Stream III is for students focusing on physical education or music. This allows more time for clubs. The brass band club even has nine music classes per week.

But Osaka Toin High School is most famous for its sports teams. The baseball team is particularly legendary. In 1991 only four years after its founding Osaka Toin made history. They participated in the spring invitational tournament. Their ace pitcher Yukihiko Wada pitched a no-hitter. They won the Summer Koshien national championships. They beat Okinawa Fisheries High School. This was remarkable. They won the championship in their very first year of qualifying.

Osaka Toin High School’s baseball team didn’t stop there. They won another national championship in 2008. In 2012 they achieved an incredible feat. They won both the spring invitational and the summer national tournaments. They were the seventh school to accomplish this amazing double victory. Shintaro Fujinami the future Hanshin Tigers ace led them to victory. He pitched shutouts in the semi-final and the final. They also became joint champions of the National Sports Festival. This made them the third school ever to win the triple crown in a single year.

The school also boasts successful teams in other sports. Its brass band has won numerous awards. The soccer team has reached national tournaments. The rugby team won the 14th Spring Invitational Tournament in 2013. The golf team won the All Japan High School Golf Tournament in 1999. Even the basketball teams have made their mark.

Osaka Toin High School has faced controversies. In 2007 there was a scandal involving inflated university entrance exam success rates. In 2015 a slush fund scandal came to light. Despite these challenges Osaka Toin High School remains a prestigious institution. It continues to nurture talented students in academics and athletics. It’s a testament to perseverance and success.
