The Centre d’Itaosy, an orphanage tucked away in Itaosy, a suburb of Antananarivo, holds a unique story of compassion and resilience. It all started because of a man named Roland RANDRIANASOLONANDRASANA, a courageous and dedicated individual who had dedicated his life to helping orphans in Madagascar. Sadly, Roland passed away, leaving behind a legacy that lives on through the orphanage. Roland was himself an orphan, having lost his father and mother. But this didn’t make him bitter, it made him determined to help provide a better future for others. He became a taxi driver, taking time out of his busy schedule and using his hard-earned income to help orphans. His journey began in 1974 and led him from driving a taxi to creating the Orphelinat Tobin’ny Mpamafy, also known as the Centre du Semeur. Today the orphanage is run by his widow, Mme RAJAONAHARIMANANA Vololomboahangy Israélina and a former orphan who was once welcomed at this very orphanage, Rivo ALBERT. You see, it’s a place where everyone is family, a place where the spirit of generosity and kindness thrives. And it’s not just about giving children shelter and food; the centre provides them with schooling and opportunities to learn valuable skills for their future. It helps them grow into capable, self-reliant individuals, ready to contribute meaningfully to Madagascan society. The centre is a testament to the power of a single person’s determination and the everlasting spirit of compassion. It stands as a symbol of hope, reminding us that even in the face of hardship, a brighter future can be built.
