What if I told you this quiet giant, the Orfeo Superdomo, has witnessed roaring crowds and electrifying performances? The Orfeo Superdomo opened its doors on September 6, 2002. The rock band Divididos inaugurated the venue with a concert promoting their album “Vengo del placard de otro”. The Orfeo Superdomo quickly became a cultural hub. It hosted sporting events like basketball, volleyball, boxing, and tennis. It became the go-to venue for concerts in Córdoba. Its capacity is a whopping 14,000 for sports and between 8,000 and 12,000 for concerts. Imagine Metallica rocking this place. They actually did, in 2010. The concert sold out within hours. Other international sensations like Guns N’ Roses and Deep Purple graced the stage soon after. Sadly, financial woes, exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic, led to its closure in 2020. “Grupo Dinosaurio S.A.”, the arena’s owner, made the tough decision. But the story doesn’t end there. The Córdoba City Council declared the Orfeo Superdomo a place of local interest, saving it from demolition. In 2021, it even served as a vaccination center. The future of the Orfeo Superdomo remains uncertain. But its legacy as a vibrant entertainment center lives on.
