Ever dreamed of opera without the long, drawn-out bits? Welcome to Opernfactory Hamburg. This unique theater offers a fresh take on classic opera. It is located in the Tonndorf area of Hamburg.
Opernfactory was founded in November 2012 by Barbara Kaliner. It stands as the only music theater in East Hamburg. This special place is located inside a former spice mill on Ahrensburger Straße.
Imagine this old spice mill transformed. It now holds a theater with 130 seats. There is also a small foyer where you can get drinks. Opernfactory is a private theater. It relies solely on its own funding. It receives no support from the government.
Opernfactory Hamburg stages varied operatic performances. They also offer opera gala programs. You don’t have to sit through an entire opera here. Instead, enjoy concerts featuring famous melodies. You can also see the greatest hits.
The ensemble features professional soloists. The house also has a small opera choir. Besides operas and operettas, Opernfactory stages musicals. Chansons and Low German readings are also performed here. Spoken theater productions enrich the program as well. The performances are accompanied on the piano.
Since 2015, Opernfactory Hamburg has offered something special. It’s called “Opera Three-Dimensional.” The auditorium becomes part of the stage. The performance area extends into the audience. This way, viewers experience the opera up close.
In 2015, the “Carmen Opera Three-Dimensional” project received cultural authority funding. This highlights the innovative concept of Opernfactory. The theater values staging productions true to their original time.
Consider attending “Opera d’ amour”. It presents the most beautiful melodies from romantic opera. Or maybe “ComedyOper” is more your style. It proves opera can be funny.
Opernfactory Hamburg offers something for everyone. It provides a unique and intimate opera experience. Whether you are a seasoned opera lover or a newcomer. Opernfactory offers an unforgettable evening of music and theater. This unique approach sets it apart. It makes opera accessible and enjoyable for all.
