Is this what true dedication looks like? The Open Door Mission True Light Church stands as a testament to the unwavering spirit of faith and community. It all began in 1966, not within these walls, but as a humble Sunday School in the heart of North Philadelphia. The late Rev. James L. Ballard, Sr., a man driven by his mission, spearheaded this inspiring initiative. His vision was deeply intertwined with the church’s name: Open Door Mission True Light Church, a name that would become prophetic in its own right. The word “Mission” is key to understanding the church’s past, present, and future. The church’s initial location in North Philadelphia reflected its mission to serve the inner city. Now, situated in West Philadelphia, the Open Door Mission True Light Church continues to embody its name, serving as a beacon of hope and a testament to the power of faith in action.
