A testament to faith. That’s what the Olive Lane Church of God represents. This isn’t just a building. It’s a story etched in time. A story of growth and transformation.
The Olive Lane Church of God isn’t actually located on Olive Lane. It’s a vibrant community of faith. It started in 1998 as Glory Christian Church of San Diego. A group of Chinese Christians sought to create a unique church. They wanted to glorify God and serve the spiritual needs of Chinese immigrants and their children. Reverend William A Dale served as the first senior pastor. He laid the foundation. Services began at First Baptist Church and later at Miramar College.
Growth was steady. The church attracted Mandarin-speaking families and cross-cultural couples. The church expanded its ministries to serve different age groups and families. They even moved to a new location on Activity Road in 2000. They offered services in both English and Mandarin. They hosted Bible studies and various events. Communion baptisms and evangelistic meetings were held.
In 2002 Reverend Dale concluded his ministry. Dr Gee Lowe became the second pastor. His leadership focused on missions work. The church became more active in the mission field. They began to respond to local community needs. In 2008 Reverend Lowe’s tenure ended. Pastor Joe Wong served as interim pastor. The church appointed Emilian Mihet as youth minister. He served until 2012. Reverend Aaron Lee became the third Mandarin pastor in 2011. The church also appointed Pastor Ming Yang as interim English pastor. Later he became the Caring Pastor. Pastor Dalon Chin took over as English Pastor in 2014.
After years of prayer and effort the church finally moved to its current location in 2017. The new facility at 9888 Carroll Centre Road Suite 100 became their permanent home. In 2018 they celebrated their 20th anniversary at Mission Bay Park. The Olive Lane Church of God stands as a beacon of hope and faith. Its story continues to unfold. A story of perseverance and dedication. A true testament to the power of community and faith.
