The Organ of Critical Art functions as a studio. It is an experimental space. It is also an exhibition area. Local and international artists find a haven here. They showcase their works within an expanded concept of art.
Exhibitions occur regularly at OKK – Organ kritischer Kunst. Artists and culture makers from various genres are presented. The focus lies on the interdisciplinarity of art. OKK sees art as a tool. It is for cultivating socio-political awareness. It stands against reactionary tendencies. Racism, militarism, sexism, dogmas, and fascism are among them. It opposes all inhumane expressions.
The OKK project group dedicates itself to socially critical culture. They mobilize art with cultural-political and socio-political themes. They aim to bundle diverse critical expressions. Their goal is a network. This network enables members to organize exchanges. They discuss political issues locally, nationally, and internationally. These discussions are then presented to the public.
OKK strives to be a place for dialogue. It organizes new artistic and medial approaches. These approaches tackle socio-critical culture. It also serves as a conference and exhibition venue. Experimental results are published and presented here.
Since its founding in 2007, OKK has hosted over 40 exhibitions. Many cultural events have taken place here. International artists transform the space with their unique aesthetics.
Past events at OKK include MYKOLOGICA. This is an artistic research lab focused on mushrooms. Another exhibition was Thresholds by Gøneja. SELFMADE by DON featured mixed media paintings by a Berlin tattoo artist.
One past exhibition explored mycelium. It showed the mycelium as a cosmic creation. It combined photography, painting, drawing, design, and science. Eleven international artists participated.
OKK – Organ kritischer Kunst is more than just a gallery. It is a hub for critical thinking. It is a space for challenging the status quo. It is a testament to the power of art. It can ignite social and political change.
