Around 780-802 AD a document mentioned Liederbach. Was it Oberliederbach or Unterliederbach? Nobody knows for sure. We are standing in Oberliederbach today. This charming village boasts a rich history.

Oberliederbach is a part of Liederbach am Taunus in the Main-Taunus-Kreis. It’s a place that whispers tales of centuries past. Its earliest written record is rather mysterious. It’s unclear if the reference to Liederbach applies to Ober- or Unterliederbach.

From the mid-14th century onwards Oberliederbach appears in records. For a while it was even called Mittelliederbach. This was because of its location between Münster and Unterliederbach. Imagine the busy life in this village over the years.

Oberliederbach was part of the territory of the Lords of Eppstein. In 1492 it joined the Landgraviate of Hesse. Then in 1803 it became part of Nassau-Usingen. During the time of the Duchy of Nassau it belonged to the Amt Höchst. Quite a journey through history.

On December 31 1971 Niederhofheim and Oberliederbach voluntarily merged to form the municipality of Liederbach. A new chapter began for Oberliederbach. It’s a testament to the spirit of community.

Oberliederbach’s stunning evangelical parish church was built between 1833 and 1834. Eberhard Philipp Wolff designed this masterpiece in the classicist style. It’s made of Freudenberger sandstone. A beautiful example of architecture.

Let’s not forget the magnificent Oberliederbach park. Heinrich Siesmayer started creating it in the late 1860s. Adolf Meyer a wealthy merchant from Saint Petersburg bought a guesthouse next to the church in 1866. That guesthouse stands today. It’s a listed building.

Meyer commissioned Siesmayer to design the park. The park extends from the guesthouse to the Liederbach river. Imagine enjoying this space.

Meyer left the house and park to his daughter. She in turn left it to her daughter Adele von Dietel in 1892. Adele and her husband Alwin Woldemar von Dietel built a grand villa in the style of an Italian Renaissance palace. This building is now the Karl-Winnacker-Haus. It’s also protected as a historical monument. The park was then called the Dietelscher Park.

Today the park is smaller. Buildings from recent decades have reduced its size. However Oberliederbach’s history lives on in this special place. The guesthouse and villa still frame the green space.

Oberliederbach is located between the B8 and B519 federal highways. The L3016 state road also known as the Höchster Strasse provides access. A convenient location with easy access.

Remember this story of Oberliederbach. This quaint village has a rich history. From its mysterious early mentions to its beautiful park. It’s a place worth remembering.
