Gazing upon this unassuming patch of land, can you envision the vibrant city of Oak Ridge North? Oak Ridge North sits nestled in Montgomery County, Texas, a mere 35 miles north of the bustling metropolis of Houston. Incorporated in 1979, Oak Ridge North arose from the desire of residents to maintain their autonomy. They sought to protect their community from Houston’s encroaching annexation efforts. Oak Ridge North was originally envisioned as a subdivision in the 1960s by the Spring Pines Corporation. Later, United Diversified and Associated Properties continued its development, laying the foundation for the community we see today. In 1979, Oak Ridge North’s residents voted to incorporate, transforming the subdivision into a city. This decision reflected their commitment to self-governance and community preservation. Today, Oak Ridge North is governed by a mayor, Paul Bond, and a five-member city council. The council-manager form of government ensures efficient administration under City Manager Heather Neeley. The city covers a total area of 1.45 square miles, a testament to its measured growth and dedication to preserving its close-knit community feel. The 2020 census recorded a population of 3,057 residents. Oak Ridge North is served by the Conroe Independent School District. Students attend Oak Ridge Elementary, Vogel Intermediate, Irons Junior High, and Oak Ridge High School. The city is also part of the Lone Star College System, providing accessible higher education opportunities. Oak Ridge North offers a unique blend of suburban tranquility and convenient access to urban amenities. This delicate balance makes it an appealing location for families and professionals alike.
