Right here, in front of you, stands the Meistersingerhalle, their principal concert venue. The Nürnberger Symphoniker was originally established in 1946 but wasn’t always known by this name. In the aftermath of World War II, it emerged as the Franconia State Orchestra. It wasn’t until 1963, with the dedication of the newly built Meistersingerhalle, that the orchestra adopted its current name, the Nürnberger Symphoniker. Beyond the prestigious walls of the Meistersingerhalle, the Nürnberger Symphoniker’s music reaches far and wide. In the early 1950s, they gained international recognition for their recordings of soundtracks for epic films like “Quo Vadis” and “Ben Hur.” Then, in 1993, their recording of the theme song for Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” earned them a Grammy Award for Best Pop Instrumental Performance.
