In the heart of Houston, a beacon of faith stands tall: Northside Missionary Baptist Church. What began as a small gathering of four men studying the Bible in 1962 blossomed into a vibrant community under the leadership of Reverend Cleothus Montgomery. Northside Missionary Baptist Church quickly outgrew its initial meeting place. The congregation’s faith and numbers multiplied. This led to the church occupying not one, not two, but three different buildings before finding its current home. In February 2000, Northside Missionary Baptist Church acquired its fourth and present location. They later added the Cleothus Montgomery Family Life Center, a testament to their founding pastor’s 54 years of dedicated service. Reverend Montgomery’s influence extended beyond the spiritual realm. He was a respected figure in the community, actively involved in political and academic spheres. Northside Missionary Baptist Church became known as a place “where everybody is somebody BECAUSE Jesus Christ is Lord.” Today, Pastor Valor Cooper carries the torch, building upon Dr. Montgomery’s legacy. He emphasizes biblio-centric and Christo-centric teachings, guiding the congregation towards spiritual growth and maturity. Northside Missionary Baptist Church continues its mission to exemplify the character of Christ. They actively engage in spiritual, social, economic, and moral initiatives, making a positive impact on the community and beyond. They support over one hundred missionary projects worldwide, spreading their message of love and hope across the globe. If you visit Northside Missionary Baptist Church, you can join them for Sunday School and New Members Class at 9:00 AM, followed by Morning Service at 10:00 AM. Communion is held every first Sunday at 10:00 AM. For those seeking midweek spiritual nourishment, there’s Special Prayer for Ministry on Wednesdays at 5:30 PM and Midweek Bible Study at 6:00 PM.
