Opened in 2008, Northeast Lakeview College buzzes with activity. It’s the newest of the five Alamo Colleges, right here in Universal City, Texas. Established after a 2005 bond election, Northeast Lakeview College started with 4,000 students. It quickly grew to over 5,000 the following year, and by 2010, over 6,500 students called Northeast Lakeview College home. The campus sprawls across 267 acres, a testament to its planned expansion to accommodate a projected 16,000 students. Northeast Lakeview College isn’t just about quantity, though. It’s about quality education. The college is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. Students can pursue various degrees, from Associate of Arts and Associate of Applied Science to the specialized Associate of Arts in Teaching. And, for aspiring engineers, Northeast Lakeview College houses the Texas A&M-Chevron Engineering Academy. This partnership with Texas A&M University lets students earn credits at both institutions. Imagine taking engineering classes taught by Texas A&M faculty right here on the Northeast Lakeview College campus. Before fully transitioning to Texas A&M, students can spend up to two years in this unique program. Northeast Lakeview College even has a mascot: Nico the Nighthawk, cheering on its athletic teams. From its humble beginnings as an extension of St. Philip’s College to its current state-of-the-art campus, Northeast Lakeview College is a testament to community vision and dedication to education.
