In 1965, a vision took root in Vista. North Vista Baptist Church started as a mission. Buena Vista Baptist Church, led by Pastor B. Wade McKinley, saw the growing community and decided to act. They invested $20,000 in over four acres of land on the north side of town. This marked the humble beginnings of North Vista Baptist Church on January 5, 1965. For five years, it remained a mission under Buena Vista. Then on June 21, 1970, North Vista Baptist Church gained its independence. The small seed planted in 1965 began to grow. Through prayer, hard work, and community support, the church expanded. A sanctuary and educational building were constructed. The dream evolved into a thriving congregation. From these simple beginnings, North Vista Baptist Church, also known as Lifeway Church, has become the vibrant place of worship we see today. Over the years, North Vista Baptist Church has seen numerous pastors guide its flock. These include Joel Glaghorn, Keith Fortner, Jack Hayes, Tom James, Ken Fletcher, Tom Pieper, Ray Watt, John Welch, B. Wade McKinley, Randy Ash, and Jerry Shirley. Each leader helped shape the church’s identity and maintain its faithful presence in Vista. In April 2011, Cornerstone Community Church of Oceanside merged with North Vista Baptist Church. This union brought new members and expanded the church’s reach. Pastor Frank Keeler became the Associate Pastor in September 2011 and later Senior Pastor in January 2013. North Vista Baptist Church’s journey has been marked by both triumphs and challenges. For over five decades, it has remained a beacon of faith. At its core, North Vista Baptist Church’s mission is to share the message of Christ. It strives to teach and witness to the local community and beyond.
