Can you imagine starting a church in your own home? That’s precisely how North Oaks Baptist Church began its journey in the summer of 1980. Pastor Fred Wiesen and his wife Nancy, moved from San Angelo, Texas, to the Houston area with a burning desire to share the Gospel. They weren’t afraid to knock on doors and spread the message of faith. It was amazing to them that 80 to 90% of the people they met had never heard the Gospel before. They held the first Bible study in their home with fifteen people in attendance, a humble beginning that would soon blossom into a vibrant community. In January 1981, they purchased twenty acres of land near the intersection of Stuebner Airline Rd. and Spring Cypress Rd. in Spring, Texas. They adopted the theme “an acorn of truth and God,” symbolizing a small but mighty beginning. Their dedication to God and His Word helped the church grow into the North Oaks Baptist Church we see today. For over twenty years, that seed of faith has flourished, mirroring the many oak trees that grace the beautiful church grounds. It’s a testament to God’s blessings and the unwavering commitment of the North Oaks Baptist Church family.
