Sukjeongmun is one of Seoul’s Eight Gates. It stands guard within the Fortress Wall of Seoul, a relic from the Joseon Dynasty. The name itself, Sukjeongmun, means “Rule Solemnly Gate,” reflecting its ceremonial role. Unlike its bustling counterparts, this gate, nestled north of Seoul behind the grand Gyeongbokgung Palace, was rarely opened for everyday traffic.
