Normandy Shores is an island neighborhood, nestled in Biscayne Bay just west of Miami Beach. This isn’t just some random island. It’s connected to its sister island, Isle of Normandy, by a bridge, creating a little pocket of tranquility. Look around! Normandy Shores might surprise you. It’s known for its “Miami Modern” or “MiMo” architecture, a distinct style that emerged in the postwar period. Think bright colors, geometric designs, and a playful take on the classic Art Deco style. This was intentional. The neighborhood was the brainchild of Henri Levy, a French movie theater magnate who clearly had a vision. He wanted to recreate a touch of his French homeland right here in sunny Florida. He even named the streets after French towns, landmarks, and provinces. It’s a little piece of France in the heart of Miami.
