Founded in 1999, Nordelta was Argentina’s first “ciudadpueblo”, a planned community designed to offer a harmonious blend of urban convenience and natural beauty. Originally comprised of nine neighborhoods, Nordelta has steadily grown over the years, attracting residents with its promise of “living well”, as their motto suggests. This isn’t your typical suburb. Nordelta boasts a comprehensive infrastructure. Residents have access to swimming pools, sports fields, a shopping mall, a medical center, and even private schools, all within the secure confines of this gated community. Nordelta also stands out for its advanced telecommunications network. It was one of the first in Argentina to embrace next-generation technology. However, Nordelta’s story is not without its complexities. The development has faced criticism for its impact on the Paraná wetlands. This delicate ecosystem is vital for local wildlife, and the encroachment of urban development has raised concerns about environmental consequences. Interestingly, the residents of Nordelta, perhaps aware of this delicate balance, established the Nordelta Foundation. This organization aims to improve the living conditions of those in Las Tunas, a nearby shantytown.
