Nishi Hongwanji Los Angeles Betsuin belongs to the Jodo Shinshu Hongwanji-ha. This is one of the largest denominations of Pure Land Buddhism. As a Betsuin, it is a direct branch of Nishi Hongwanji-ha in Kyoto, Japan. It is one of 62 affiliated temples in the mainland United States.
