Was it faith, desperation, or perhaps a flicker of hope that led the first worshippers to the humble, gabled structure of Nhà thờ Tin Lành in 1913? Back then, the church, built of wood and attap, served a small congregation of just 20 souls. These individuals were connected to the royal families of Cộng Tôn Nữ Thị Hậu and Cộng Tôn Nữ Từ Oanh. They sought solace within its simple walls, their prayers echoing amidst the rustling leaves of surrounding trees. Nhà thờ Tin Lành, even in its infancy, held a special place in the heart of the burgeoning community of Đà Nẵng. A violent storm in 1922 ravaged the original building, tearing at its fragile structure and scattering its remnants. The devastation left a void, a spiritual emptiness that mirrored the physical ruin. But the spirit of the congregation remained unbroken. They knew Nhà thờ Tin Lành had to be reborn. This time, they resolved to build something stronger, more resilient. In 1931, the church rose again, this time constructed with durable materials that could withstand the capricious whims of nature. The new building embodied both the past and the future, a testament to their enduring faith. The church comprises two levels: a ground floor and an upper floor, enclosed by a tall, imposing fence topped with a cross, the iconic symbol of Christianity. Its architecture is noticeably simpler than other churches in Đà Nẵng, its most prominent feature a single cross depicting the suffering of Jesus. While the design might lack ornate embellishments, it possesses a modern elegance. Inside, rows of simple pews provide a place for worshippers to gather, to pray, and to find comfort in shared belief. Over the years, Nhà thờ Tin Lành has continued to evolve. In 2000, it underwent renovations, blending modern architectural elements with the existing structure. The church stands today as a beacon of hope, a place of peace in the vibrant city of Đà Nẵng, its story woven into the fabric of the community it serves.
