In 1956 a group of Catholic families settled near Dong Nai River. They built a simple church using readily available materials. This was the humble beginning of the Nha Tho Tan Bac. Father Joseph Pham Tuan Tu was appointed to lead the parish. Three years later a new church was constructed with bricks and wood. It served as a place of worship and prayer. Father Joseph oversaw the expansion including a new church building in 1973. This measured 13m by 35m. In 1995 a new bell tower was added. A new rectory followed in 2000. Father Damminh Nguyen Dinh took over in 2000. He completed several construction projects. Seven years later Father Duc Cha Damminh Nguyen Chu Trinh elevated Tan Bac to the status of a full parish. It was renamed Nha Tho Giao Xu Thien Trieu. Father Pho Huynh Van Vinh was appointed its first pastor. In 2011 renovations began. These included expanding the church building adding a new parish hall and other structures. Since then the parish has thrived its community growing stronger. Father Paulo Buy Quang Trung became the parish priest in September 2018. The Nha Tho Giao Xu Thien Trieu stands as a testament to faith perseverance and community. It continues to serve its people. Its story a testament to the enduring spirit of the Catholic Church in Vietnam.
