Didn’t Catholics need a place to practice their beliefs? After 1975 many people from Saigon and Bien Hoa moved to Long Thanh. They established Giao diem Long Duc II.
One year later Father Phêrô Trần Văn Tiến gathered the people. He established a new Giao họ. Two years later Father Phêrô and the community built a simple church. It had a thatched roof. Đức Cha Đaminh Nguyễn Văn Lãng elevated Giao họ Long Đức II to GHBL.
In 1990 the community began building a new church. It was completed one year later. In 2009 Đức Cha Đaminh Nguyễn Chu Trinh elevated GHBL Long Đức II to Giáo xứ. Three years later Giáo xứ Long Đức II was renamed Giáo xứ Thiên Lộc.
Today Giáo xứ Thiên Lộc has a rectory and a catechism house. These serve the parish activities. Under the guidance of Father Giuse Trương Chí Tuệ the Thiên Lộc community is growing. It is strong in faith. Its activities are stable.
Giáo xứ Thiên Lộc is in Long Thành District. Đông borders Giang Điền commune. Tây borders the Lục Quân II officer school. Nam borders An Viễn commune. Bắc borders Phước Tân commune. It covers 6.08 square kilometers.
The parish patron is Saint Joseph the Worker celebrated on May 1. In 2025 the population was 1247. There were 596 Catholics. Masses are held at various times. Special masses are also offered.
Father Giuse Nguyễn Trường Hải has been the incumbent priest since September 23, 2024. Before him several priests served. They include Father Phêrô Trần Văn Tiến and Father Giuse Trương Chí Tuệ. The community of Giáo xứ Thiên Lộc continues to thrive. It is a testament to faith and perseverance.
