Nhà thờ Giáo xứ Thái Hiệp

“A church born from displacement,” the old woman whispered, her eyes reflecting the stained-glass windows of Nhà thờ Giáo xứ Thái Hiệp. “Imagine, in 1954, families uprooted from Thái Bình parish, seeking solace in this new land.” We stand before Nhà thờ Giáo xứ Thái Hiệp, a testament to their resilience. Initially, around 200 parishioners found refuge in Tân Hiệp Hamlet, within the Đức Tu district of Biên Hòa. They held their services in the familiar embrace of Tân Hiền Church, also known as Thuận Hòa. As more people arrived, a new spiritual home became necessary. On September 24, 1961, Nhà thờ Giáo xứ Thái Hiệp officially came into being under the guidance of Father Augustinô Phạm Khắc Nghiêm. That same year, he and the parishioners erected the first church building, a simple structure that served as both a meeting place and a sanctuary. In 1969, Father Đaminh Trần Xuân Thảo succeeded Father Augustinô, continuing the church’s growth. He collaborated with the Thái Hiệp community to construct a second church, larger and more durable, measuring 15m x 50m. It was inaugurated on December 24, 1970. Father Gioakim Nguyễn Bá Tước took the helm in the following years, overseeing further enhancements. He facilitated the addition of a bell tower and a parish house in 1999. Renovations to the church building itself took place in 2009, further beautifying the interior and exterior spaces. Father Gioakim’s leadership strengthened the Thái Hiệp community, fostering both faith and fellowship. The church continued to evolve under Father Giuse Đỗ Mạnh Dũng from 2011, embracing new practices and expanding its outreach. In 2021, Father Phêrô Phạm Duy Liêm was appointed, carrying on the legacy of guidance and service to the community. Nhà thờ Giáo xứ Thái Hiệp stands not just as a building, but as a symbol of continuity and hope. A beacon of faith, built by the hands of those who sought a new beginning.
