Did you know Gia Cốc Parish was founded in 1954? Father Dominic Phạm Khắc Hiếu led 50 Catholic families here to establish it. This marked the beginning of a vibrant community centered around faith.

Welcome to Nhà thờ Giáo xứ Gia Cốc. This church stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of its parishioners. It reflects their dedication and the rich history of this Catholic community.

In the early days the community faced many challenges. Father Dominic and his followers built a simple chapel. It was made of canvas and served as a place for worship. Seven years later they constructed a new church measuring 8m x 21m. This provided a more fitting space to honor God.

During his time managing Gia Cốc Parish from 1976 to 1998 Father Gioan Baotixita Nguyễn Văn Bình helped the community grow spiritually. In 1998 he built a new rectory. On September 9 1999 Father Dominic Nguyễn Văn Tòng replaced Father Gioan Baotixita.

On December 31 2000 Father Dominic started building a new church with the Gia Cốc community. It was completed on April 15 2001. Father Dominic established the Rosary groups making the parish’s activities more vibrant.

On January 9 2010 Father Raymundo Trần Quốc Thắng was appointed to care for Gia Cốc Parish. He guided the community in their faith life. He worked with parishioners to build infrastructure. This included bridges roads a house for religious education renovated sanctuary and expanded the parish park. On July 26 2013 Father Raymundo and the community renovated the church. This was to meet current pastoral needs. Thanks to God and Father Raymundo’s service the pastoral activities of Gia Cốc Parish became richer. The life of faith grew stronger.

In 2017 Father Augustino Nguyễn Văn Chiến succeeded Father Raymundo. He continued to care for the parish.

Gia Cốc Parish covers 2.5 square kilometers. It borders several other parishes. These include Ba Đông Kim Bích Thái Hiệp Xuân Hòa Gia Viên and Thái An.

The parish celebrates the feast day of the Immaculate Heart of Mary on December 8. Father Augustino Nguyễn Văn Chiến has been the current priest since August 3 2017.

Nhà thờ Giáo xứ Gia Cốc has grown significantly since its founding. In 1954 it had only 300 parishioners. By 2024 that number had increased to 2816.
